Richard is Uniac’s Executive Director. He joined Uniac on its establishment in 1992 – having previously held an internal audit role within the nuclear industry.
Over the years, Richard has built sector wide links – be it with the previous and current HE sector regulator (Office for Students), the British Universities Finance Directors’ Group (BUFDG), Guild HE and other stakeholder bodies. He has seen (and overseen) the development of internal audit practices within the sector over the last 30 years – with a real drive for risk based approaches and a concentration on adding value.
Richard is a member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors. Richard has also, over the years, chaired an audit committee at a small HEI and had roles on both finance and audit committee at a large FE college.
Richard has led a number of governance reviews, audit committee effectiveness assessments as a well as risk management audits – with a focus on maximising the benefits institutions receive.
