Helen Fowler is a Chartered Internal Auditor and Chartered Certified Accountant. She began her career as an accountant and external auditor before moving into internal audit over 20 years ago and has experience of internal audit and risk management in local government, higher education, multi academy trusts and housing associations.
Helen has worked as a Head of Audit and Risk in local government and housing associations and since 2020, has worked freelance, providing internal audit and risk management consultancy.
Helen’s experience includes establishing a shared internal audit service between two local government bodies, leading on the integration of two previously distinct teams into a combined service to deliver efficiencies and improve the quality of audit work. She has led on the development of risk management and business continuity frameworks, overseen the implementation of new audit and risk software and improved the visibility of health and safety governance and reporting framework.
